Yesterday was the last day of school for two weeks. This made me excited for the opportunity to teach Maya and Evie, and Maddy. To integrate my mom (the smartest woman I know) and cross over with GrannyMani. I felt like my dream of being Jo from the book Little Women was coming true. I believe strongly in the sense of consistency and routine for our children.
I think of the 90 days without school in Honduras (due to political crisis and teacher unions strikes) and I think of my friend Leanna Marr and all of her work dating back to 2003 and emergency education. I think about my own work with Early Learning Standards for 37 countries and of course my teaching certificate for the state of Massachusetts the place where Horace Mann started. And of course Noah Webster.
Don’t forget about the Hedge Schools in Ireland.
