One of my favorite techniques to integrate Social Emotional Learning with children and adults of all ages is through relevant literature. In the context of some parts of the U.S. "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein is perfect. I recommend reading it slowly and twice, allowing the readers (or emerging readers) to engage with and discuss the content and the beautiful pictures. The point in the end is: by giving herself- the tree was happy.
